Gridiron Victoria Week 10 – 10 July

Week 10 of the 2011 Gridiron Victoria season and another round of cross-divisional games (interim scores).

In Footscray, the Monash Warriors faced the Gippsland Gladiators in the morning and the defending champions registered a big 72-2 win over the new team.

In the afternoon the Western Crusaders hosted the Croydon Rangers2, the home team getting the win 48-8.

Down in Berwick, the early game featured the Monash Barbarians and the Bay City Buccaneers, with the Buccs registering the highest score of the year with an 84-0 victory.

Later in the day the hotly anticipated clash between the Berwick Miners (currently last in div 1) and the Northern Raiders (currently atop div 2) saw the Miners get the win 26-0.

2011 World Championships Broadcast Schedule

International fans can watch nine games on the ‘Official Internet Stream’

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Wednesday, July 6 – PARIS, FRANCE – The majority of games played at the 2011 IFAF Senior World Championship of American football will be aired on ORF television in Austria and across the European continent by Eurosport 2.

The nine ORF-broadcast games will also be available free of charge to a worldwide audience through the ‘Official Internet Stream of the 2011 IFAF World Championship of American Football powered by ORF’ on thewww.IFAF.org website.  Additional games will be streamed in some territories through a pay-per-view Eurosport 2 webcast.

Gridiron Victoria Week 9 – 2/3 July

Week 9 of the 2011 season and some very intriguing match ups with enormous implications for the play offs only 6 weeks away.

Saturday 2nd July we headed to Corio where the Bay City Buccaneers hosted the league leading Croydon Rangers. With top spot essentially on the line and very little splitting these two sides, it ended in a thrilling draw 14-14 with the Rangers now holding the tiebreaker.

Following this game the Monash Barbarians went up against the Croydon Rangers2, with the Rangers2 taking control early and winning easily 38-6.

On Sunday morning at Monash University Clayton, the hometown Warriors hosted the Berwick Miners and motored to a big win 42-12, whilst later in the day the Melbourne Uni Royals and the Gippsland Gladiators fought it out to the wire with a thrilling 14- 13 win to the Royals.

Also on Sunday afternoon in Reservoir, the Northern Raiders hosted the Ballarat Pioneers and confirmed their status as the division 2 pacesetter with a 19-3 victory.

Gridiron Victoria Week 8 Results – 25/26 June

Week 8 passes the halfway mark of the 2011 Gridiron Victoria season with another round of cross-divisional games.

On Saturday 25th June the Bay City Buccaneers hosted the division two Croydon Rangers2 in what was a closer match than expected with the Buccaneers prevailing 38-0. Following on at 2pm, the division leaders faced off with the division one Rangers playing the Northern Raiders. The Rangers got out to a solid lead early and cruised to a 53-0 win.

Sunday saw the Western Crusaders host the Melbourne Uni Royals, with the home team rolling to a solid win 42-0, whilst down in Morewell the Gippsland Gladiators gave the Berwick Miners a scare, with the Miners holding on for a 20-19 win.

Gridiron Victoria Week 7 Results – 18/19 June


Gridiron Victoria has reached the halfway mark of our biggest season yet in 2011.

On Saturday  the Northern Raiders hosted the Monash Barbarians. Both teams got a taste of division one football last week and were keen to rebound strong, with the Raiders getting the win 12-6. In the afternoon game, the Gippsland Gladiators were too strong for the exhibition team, Ballarat Pioneers with a 35-12 win.

On Sunday at Ranger Field in Croydon the Rangers2 hosted the Melbourne Uni Royals  and avenged their early season loss to win 20-0. In the afternoon, the division one Rangers held on in a tight finish against the old nemesis Monash Warriors 15-12 to complete the sweep in 2011.

Also on Sunday the Berwick Miners hosted the Western Crusaders with the visiting Crusaders over powering the Miners to win 62-12.
