The season mantra of #BiggerAndBetter soars to new heights with a major announcement regarding the 2015 Vic Bowl.
Following the widespread mainstream media coverage last year, the Executive have committed budget towards competing players arriving via similar means this year to capitalize on the exposure.
Warriors Star Heath Decker was whisked by chopper from his Aussie Rules final all the way to Bendigo in time to get changed on the sideline, take to the field and help secure a 3rd straight title for Monash.
To ensure the best possible spectacle and all players being physically and mentally prepared for the biggest game of the year, a series of Bell 206 Longranger Helicopters have been booked for August 15th to transport all players to the venue.
“We see it as the most logical next step in advancing our marquee event” said a media spokesperson for Gridiron Victoria.
“As we innovate and set new benchmarks in excellence with regards to the overall spectacle, it is imperative to remember that the athletes are really the most important part of our sport, consistent with our mission and vision statement”.
The league would not confirm the expected cost of the new venture although this journalist notes that the average hourly charter rate of $1800 per helicopter could see an estimated bill of up to $28,000.
“Our primary responsibility is the health and wellbeing of our players. We cannot expect them to pack their own car and then drive themselves to the ground” the spokesperson added.
GV made the announcement on April 1st.
