Australia loses the 2012 Junior Oceania Bowl 93-7

Torrential rain during the 2012 Oceania Bowl

American Samoa showed their dominance at Under 19 level with a comprehensive 93-7 victory over Australia in hurricane-like weather conditions to win the 2012 Oceania Bowl and qualify for the 2012 IFAF U19 World Championship.

Register to play with Gridiron Victoria

All players, including existing and all new players who will participate in Gridiron Victoria must be registered for insurance purposes for the 2012 season.

Existing players will need to retrieve their login/account details from there, whilst new players create a new account.

Registration costs $100 and insures you against injury during training and game day.

2012 Superbowl Party at TGI Fridays Jam Factory

Thanks to everyone who came down to TGIFridays Jam Factory and enjoyed a great day and supported the league!

We even had a special celebrity guest sit with the GV contingent, comedian Dave Hughes.

The biggest day in American Sport is almost upon us with the 2012 Super Bowl next Monday morning local time.

Gridiron Victoria major sponsor TGI Friday is hosting a blockbuster party at the Jam Factory in South Yarra with doors opening at 9:30am, happy hour from 2-7, specials all day and of course a menu of American classics!

At half time of the match they will auction off some memorabilia autographed by Australian punter Ben Graham – the only person to play in an AFL Grand Final and a Super Bowl.

Be sure to get along to support TGI Fridays and Gridiron Victoria. Game kicks off at 10:30am, Monday 6th February.

IFAF World Team defeat Team USA

The IFAF World Team won a thrilling 2012 International Bowl 35-29 despite a rousing U.S. Under-19 National Team comeback that fell just short in the fourth quarter.

The game marked the first loss in international competition at the senior or junior level by Team USA, including the 2007 and 2011 IFAF Senior World championships, the 2009 U-19 IFAF World Championship and two previous International Bowls.

University of Manitoba runningback Anthony Coombs rushed for a game-high 147 yards and two touchdowns and Burlington (Canada) Nelson High School quarterback Will Finch completed 11-of-14 passes for 169 yards and a pair of scores to lead the World team to the victory.
