Monash Warriors star Heath Decker had a conundrum Saturday.
He was scheduled to play Wide Receiver and Quarterback for the Warriors in the 2014 TGI Friday’s VIC BOWL on Bendigo Saturday night at 6pm.
However last Thursday night the head coach at his beloved North Ringwood Aussie Rules club called with a problem: they needed him to play fullback Saturday afternoon against the equivalent of Buddy Franklin in their Eastern Football League semi final.

Not to be outdone a helicopter was quickly convened to land at a school in Boronia. At 3/4 time having shut the opposing spearhead down and his team safely in the lead, Decker boarded the chopper and was whisked to Bendigo where his team was seeking a championship 3-peat against the Geelong Buccaneers.
Following a quick flyover of the ground to assuage disbelieving teammates, Decker landed at a nearby field where his sister was waiting to rush him to the ground.

Having changed into gridiron pads on the sideline in front of the crowd Decker stepped onto the field and on the 2nd Warrior drive caught a 30 yard touchdown down the sideline to set up an unassailable lead.

The Warriors would go on to win their 3rd straight Gridiron Victoria VIC BOWL and 10th in 14 years with Decker starting.
Not to be outdone, the North Ringwood team has a week off and will now contest their grand final in 2 weeks.
The story first broke on 3AW 693 breakfast radio in Melbourne and Heath was interviewed by Ross and John Monday morning.
