Parents FAQ
Player safety is our top priority. All U15 games follow modified rules that reduce contact while maintaining the fundamentals of the sport. Key safety measures include:
- Mandatory safety equipment including helmets, shoulder pads, and mouthguards
- Certified coaches trained in USA Football’s Heads Up tackling techniques
- Medical staff present at all games
- Progressive contact introduction based on skill level
- Strict enforcement of age and weight divisions
All coaches and officials are trained to recognize signs of concussion and follow strict return-to-play protocols.
Players require the following equipment:
- Helmet with facemask (must be NOCSAE certified)
- Shoulder pads
- Mouthguard (attached to facemask)
- Football pants with integrated pads
- Cleats (plastic/rubber, no metal)
Most clubs offer equipment rental programs for new players. Please contact your local club for details. All helmets must be recertified every two years for safety.
All U15 games are played within the greater Melbourne metropolitan area. Typically, teams will travel no more than 30-45 minutes from their home ground. The league schedules games to minimize travel where possible.
Most games are played on weekend mornings, with occasional weeknight games during daylight saving months. A detailed schedule is provided at the start of the season to help families plan accordingly.
We encourage carpooling among team families to reduce travel costs and build community.
Our U15 league is fully inclusive and welcomes players of all genders. The rules are the same for everyone, with no gender-based modifications. We’ve found this approach creates a positive environment where all players can develop skills based on their abilities rather than gender stereotypes.
Approximately 25% of our current players are girls, and this number continues to grow each season. Many of our female players have gone on to play at higher levels, including state representative teams.
All changing facilities at venues have private areas available for all players.
Registration fees for the 2025 season are $295 per player, which includes:
- Insurance coverage

- Team jersey (players keep this)
Additional costs may include:
- Equipment rental/purchase ($100-300 depending on what you need)
